Music, Music, Music...

Blurb of the Day:
You can't make wrong work
~ Gerald Waterhouse ~

I would not have survived my teen years without music. Who was luckier than us to have been born in the era of the birth of Rock & Roll? Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, The Everly Brothers, The Platters, The Righteous Brothers, Sonny & Cher... and on and on and on. I simply cannot abide so much of the noise they call music nowadays. It truly upsets my soul. And rap? Oh God, spare me! Who wants to listen to all these angry people? Not me! Gimmee a dated Tom Jones any day over some of these wannabee 'performers'.

It must be a generational thing because I sound just like my parents did when I was happily diddy-bopping around listening to 'my' music. Old fogies! They just didn't understand! heh, heh, heh - how many times have I heard that from my kid and the grands?? Ah well, to each his/her own, live and let live, etc., etc., etc.

Which brings me to my real point today. So I'm still piddling around with this computer last night and decided to check out some of my MP3s. I figure I'll use my headphones so as not to disturb the TV-watching hubby. Sounds like a plan, right?... Wrong! I've got these perfectly good headphones that I used to use all the time (you will note the past tense there.) They worked fine with my Dell and the sound equipment upstairs, yada, yada, yada - I love 'em. Should be easy to just plug 'em in and have at it, right? Wrong again!

Seems on 'new' electronics - translated to mean anything less than a year old - the connection gizzy is way smaller than the connector on my headphones. Erg! Okay... no problem. Dear, helpful hubby jogs upstairs and grabs the headphones from his Walkman (another apparently antiquated piece of technology) and voila!, it fits! And, the sound is great in the one ear I'm holding the headphones up to. Cool beans! I can listen, he can watch, and all's right with the world, right? Wrong yet one more time!!

So, I lean over and put them all the way on my head, sit up again, and glug!, nearly yank my head off! Unless I want to take on the persona of Quasimodo, I can't sit at the damn computer and listen to anything with those headphones because the cord is too short! It won't reach from the plug-in in the CPU to my upright head. **sigh**

At this point, it's definitely a "if you want to watch TV, go upstairs, 'cause I'm listening to some music the old-fashioned way here" moment! He did, I did, and presently he's out shopping for a new set of headphones for me. Isn't he a love??

I still hate change sometimes...
