Mangling the English language...

We're all good at something. Some things better than others. Some of us can write well, some of us can speak well. I'm one of those who can spell pretty good. Got awards in school and all that good stuff.

Now normally, I'm pretty easy going and don't sweat the small stuff. Live and let live, to each his own, etc., etc. Every once and awhile though, I get a real bug up my butt about misspelled words. I suppose my academic and professional admin training kicks in, or maybe it has something to do with the full moon, I dunno. At any rate, it's like fingernails on a blackboard.

So, with that in mind, humor me here...

The word is moot, people, m-o-o-t: as in hypothetical; without significance.
It is NOT mute. Mute means silent, unspoken, softened or muffled.

The word is per se, p-e-r space s-e: as in of, in, or by itself, inherently.
It is NOT persay or pursay... there ain't no such animal.

And while I'm at it, it's voila, v-o-i-l-a: as in behold, lookee there!
It is NOT, for God's sake, vwala, or wallah, or my favorite mutilation - walla!

Puh-leeeze! If you insist on trying to dazzle us with your extensive vocabulary and habitual use of 50 cent words, at least know how to spell the damn things!!

That's all.
