Wham, wham, wham...
Ah, it's going to be a long, l-o-o-o-o-n-g week. I hate dealing with contractors.
After weeks and weeks of postponements, the contractors finally showed up bright and early yesterday morning to begin preps for vinyl siding installation. They tore down and replaced damaged wood, and all the trim/framing around the windows/doors and house corners. Lot of exposed surfaces left to potential wet weather, which, I may add, is always an excuse for another postponement. Can't work on wet wood in the rain, you know. Their day was over before 3:00 pm.
In the process of tearing things out, it was discovered that the fixed sidelight window panel beside the front door wasn't even attached to anything. It was just sitting in the opening it fit in. This is a half-door size window I'm talking about. The only thing holding it in... and the bad guys out... was the aluminum trim around it. Sweet. We replaced all the windows years and years ago with another contractor, so it's been like that ever since. *sigh* I hate dealing with contractors.
So, they were supposed to return bright and early this AM to continue. You'll note I said "supposed." Eight o'clock comes and goes, and no surprise, nobody's here. Nine o'clock comes and goes, still no one is around. Lew has taken off work to be here for this project and this isn't the first time he's wasted a day off when these clowns haven't shown up. Ten o'clock rolls around, and you guessed it, not a contractor in sight. And, of course, no phone call to explain anything, nor any response to the phone call Lew has made.
At this point, he's doing a slow simmer, which is an aberration in and of itself. The man is not a simmerer. I've gone downstairs and parked in front of the computer because if they show up and I'm anywhere near, I'm going to say something I'll probably regret. So, I haven't been sitting more than 5 minutes when Lew calls down with a "guess what?"... miracle of all miracles, three contractors have made an appearance!
I now have a major headache from all the hammering, but I'm not complaining - I want my siding and I want these guys out of here because... I HATE dealing with contractors!
I wonder how long they'll deign to work today.

I am married to a man who does this kind of work. I have waited 7 years for him to put the second coat of paint in our bathroom. I feel your pain!!! I hope you are kept waiting for long to get the work finished.
take care,
Dawn
