'Til next time...

I'm so sad. We took the boys back Saturday and it's like a mausoleum at my house now. Even the cats, who aren't terribly social with others, are a little disconcerted by their absence. I miss them terribly.

I miss their silly squabbling about each and e-v-e-r-ything and having to constantly remind them to keep their hands to themselves. I miss solving the overwhelming problem of who "gets to" sleep on which side of the bed... who knew this was such a world-rocking issue? I miss their daily question of "what're we having for dinner?" while we're in the middle of lunch. You'd think these kids never ate. I miss the continual games - hundreds of Sorrys, thousands of Unos, and beaucoup Go Fish, War, Yahtzee, Monopoly, etc. You name it, and we probably played it.

And the laughter! Oh God, how I miss the laughter! We laughed over the silliest things... goofy jokes, outrageous stories, and weird boy sound effects. We laughed so much, and so hearty, that the tears just rolled as I literally gasped for breath. Which then, of course, made whatever we were laughing at even funnier.

But most of all, I miss the bedtimes. I miss their "just 'til this show is over, Mommaw?"... and letting them. I miss singing each of them their own special song and planting goodnight kisses on waiting cheeks. And I miss the bestest goodnight hugs in the world.

While there's a certain pleasure in getting back into my normal routine, I'll opt for "abnormal" with my grandboys any ol' day!

Geez Marianne, you made me cry...literally. How lucky those boys are to have you! So happy to know you all had such a great time...and I hope it won't be long till you're together again!

Totally understand, I just got back from 2 weeks of babysitting my almost 3 year old granddaughter in Anchorage, while babysitter took a vacation, her birthday is in August and every morning when I got her up I was greeted with, "It's my Birthday today, we have to make my cake" it was so cute and so fun. I will go back in 3 weeks with grammpa for the event, seems like an eternity.
