4th food...
Along with the carnival and fireworks, we also did the 4th of July cookout thing, with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, and deviled eggs. The boys and I made the most decadent ice cream dessert last night to go with all the goodies today and boy, was it good!
An ice cream sandwich dessert with whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauces, and crushed Butterfinger candybars, this stuff was pure wickedness in a dish! Even my sweets-loving Southern hubby allowed as how it was a bit sweet. It'll take awhile to eat 'cause even though they had fun fixing it (especially beating the hell out of the candybars,) each of the boys have their likes and dislikes about the thing. Christopher isn't fond of Butterfingers or ice cream sandwiches and Michael doesn't do chocolate! Go figure! Whoever heard of a little boy who doesn't like chocolate?? To his credit, he did try it and decided it wasn't so bad. Didn't want more though.
Soooo, it'll be up to Lew and me to put it away... and pack on the pounds in the process. Ah, the sacrifices one must make in the name of waste not, want not!
Recipe is in Marianne's Kitchen.
