Clay court doings...

Not looking good for the American women this year. So many injuries! Serena's out with a bad knee; Lindsay Davenport is out of commission with a back injury; Capriati and Seles are also out with injuries (and probably ready to retire anyway.) That leaves Venus as the only American seed, and though she won her first match, she's a little rusty. Competition is stiff for the rest of the ladies so it should be interesting to see how things play out. Maybe we'll see some upsets.

On the men's side, Roddick is struggling with strained ankle ligaments so he's looking a little iffy. Agassi had already pulled out of this year's FO last year because of a recurring ankle injury that he doesn't want to tempt the fates with on clay play; another who'll probably retire very soon. Maybe James Blake will lead the way - if he can get past the second round. Erg, not looking good for the U.S. at all!
