Photo Hunt #12 - Architecture

Theme for March 10, 2007 - Architecture

Historical Frederick, MD has a multitude of varied architectural styles.
The Coca Cola Bottling Plant, still in operation, was built in the 1940's.
You can see the siren atop this tower structure
on the Junior Fire Co. fire station.

Of the many Victorian-style homes in the area, the unique turret
and chimney construction of this one caught my attention

The detailed peak and 5 different shingle styles
used to cover the turret are interesting

This old bank building in the heart of downtown
is covered in architectural detail

Like the coke bottle on the building - it's one of the first things I noticed. Great selection - so many beautiful things surrounding us!

The modern, flat, reflective skyscrapers and other office buildings just don't have the same detail and character of the old places. In Roanoke, VA there is an old Dr. Pepper bottling company with the large clock and 10, 2, & 4 on it. Also a coffee company, I think, with a large coffee pot pouring the brew into a cup. The pot is an old percolator version.

Very nice. Mine is up too.

You've really done some studying on the subject! An interesting collection of photos... I think the chimney (the third photo) spoiled the victorian house :(

I love buildings with a sense of history! When we went up to New England last time, we went looking for the marshmallow fluff factory that my father-in-law use to live by.

Blessings-Jennifer

PS It may be different in MD but in NC, this is our last week for cookie booths. I am headed out to do our last one in an hour.

It's no secret I'm a Coca-Cola fan, so would say the first shot is my favorite. :-) They're all great, though!

And an aside--I'm in south-central TX, and our cookie boths were done in February. But I still have a case of Tagalongs!

Wow, you don't see too many places built with brick anymore. I bet it took forever to construct those buildings!

Speaking of bricks, I chose a bank building in Key West, FL. Nice to see my home state though, I was born on Fort Meade.
