Comforts of home...

I have a very crafty and talented sister-in-law. She makes beautiful items... customized photo albums, the family crest, ornaments, needlework, and more. We are extremely fortunate to be on the receiving end of some of these lovelies that she has poured her heart into and gives away.

This past Christmas was no exception. She gave us not one, but two(!) of those no-sew blanket/throws, the subject of which arose earlier today on 2 Peas
(includes a link to a how-to site w/pictures.)

She made one for each of us, but my greedy ol' self confiscates both of them sometimes. One to cover up with and the other folded on my footstool so I can slip my bare tootsies into the fold for toasty comfort as I lean back in my recliner. I don't know what kind of fleece she used but it's the softest, warmest, coziest blankie I've ever had the pleasure of crawling under. It just makes me feel warm and secure and protected all over, you know? I love snuggling under it while watching TV, or sometimes just for a quick check of my inner eyelids. It's actually sleep-inducing and should be marketed for those insomniatic (is that even a word?) souls who have a hard time bonding with their pillows.

Yes, it's the middle of July, and yes, it's nasty, icky, hot and humid outside. But, here in my downstairs family room, where the temperature varies about 10 degrees from the comfortable upstairs, I get a little chilly sometimes. And our new blankies are just the thing. I love my sister-in-law. :-)

nothing like a good snuggly blankie--especially fleece! oh except for maybe flannel sheets on your bed in the wintertime, the kind that have seen a few seasons so they are extra soft from being broken in...
