What we've been up to...
The Battle of Antietam, fought on September 17, 1862, was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history, with about 23,000 casualties.
As many times as we've visited Gettysburg, we've never been to the Antietam National Battlefield, not far from us in Sharpsburg, Maryland. On Monday Lew and Christopher both enjoyed their first visit, while Michael and I opted out and vegged at home.
Tuesday was kind of shot because I had an early afternoon dentist appointment, which didn't leave a whole lot of time to go anywhere of distance. Wii games, TV, and time together was the order of the day.
The boys wanted to see The Dark Knight, so this afternoon we took in the 4:00 matinee.
With all the requisite violence, shooting, explosions, car-chases, and NOISE! of today's action movies, we enjoyed it anyway! ;) I think I'd have to agree with those in the know about Heath Ledger's performance being an Oscar-worthy one. His portrayal of the Joker was quite believable and evil and an outstanding bit of acting. What a loss his untimely death is.
After the movie, we stopped at Ledo's for pizza and then came on home. And a good time was had by all!
