It's Pink Saturday!

Our hostess is Beverly, at
How Sweet the Sound. Mosey on over to join in the fun and visit more pink links.

Several years ago we were out shopping for annuals at one of our local nurseries. While looking around, I noticed a big display of cute and silly whirlygigs. Now, normally, I don't collect a whole lot of tchotchke and wouldn't purposely be putting a pink plastic flamingo anywhere in my yard. On this day, however, I was feeling a bit whimisical and goofy, so just for grins and giggles, we brought it home and stuck it in a flower bed.

Since then, I've become quite attached to the little guy and faithfully pull it out of storage each season to
whirl away in among the flowers. It's getting old, and the color is fading from the sun, but it's still kind of cute, and it still makes me smile when I see its wings spinning like crazy and the poor little thing never gets anywhere!

Marianne, I can see why this little cutie makes you smile. I have had a soft spot for flamingos since I was a little girl. We had an attraction not too far from one of the place we lived, and I would always ask my daddy to drive me by to see the flamingos.

I used to have a whirly in my yard that one of my aunts gave me. It was made of wood, and finally just wore out. It made me so sad when it was gone because I always thought of her when I looked at it.

Happy Pink Saturday.

Hi Marianne, love your pink plastic flamingo! I stole one once out of my friend's yard and took it to Australia with us on a trip and the flamingo sent them pictures of his trip! It was hilarious!
Glad to meet you on Pink Saturday!

I love your *pink* flamingoe! He's very cute, and adds a nice splash of *pink* to the yard! He may not be getting anywhere, but all that spinning of his wings is keeping him very thin and svelte looking! tee hee!
