Photo Hunt - Old-Fashioned

Back in the day, we typed the old-fashioned way - on a manual typewriter... with paper.
This trusty ol' Remington portable has been sitting in its case, in my garage for decades - about 35 yrs. The keys were covered in white mold, but as you can see, amazingly it still works - even the ribbon still has ink in it!

With its sticky keys, messy ribbon, bell to let you know you reached the end of a line, and manual carriage return, it's a far cry from the keyboards we now use, but we got the job done. There's still a lot to be said for old-fashioned technology.

great pics!

When I was about to go into high school, I knew one of my classes would be typing on typewriters, so my grandma let me borrow hers to practice typing but it was a very old fashioned one and my fingers kept falling between the keys. ouch!

Typing on a manual was not my forte. I actually got a new electric typewriter in the late 80s as we didn't get a computer until '93. I type great now! : ) Good choice.

That certainly brings back memories of high school typing class. The clackclackclack of keys was nearly deafening, lol.

We still use some electric typewriters at the office but no more manual. Nice take on the theme. Have a great weekend.

Now THIS is most definitely old fashioned. I don't think I'd ever be able to press one of the keys down anymore, I'm so spoiled by the light touch of the computer's keyboard!

Thanks for the visit!!! Happy weekend.

I learned to type using this old fashioned typewriter and I have to say they are the best way to learn typing. Thanks for the memories!

i have always loved typewriters. i remember one year i got one for christmas and my parents had to forbid me to use it at night because they're hear me click-clacking away on it late into the night while everyone was trying to sleep :)

Great photo! I'm surprised it still works. The other comments reminded me that I learned to "type" first on an IBM card punch in grad school - remember the old key punch room at the Labs?
